Description
Fatsia japonica, or Japanese Aralia, produces large, hand-shaped glossy leaves that give a lush, almost tropical feel — yet it’s remarkably tolerant of lower light and cooler conditions, which many bold-leaved plants aren’t. It works beautifully as a floor plant in a shadier corner.
It prefers bright to moderate indirect light and evenly moist soil, and it appreciates cooler rooms. Keep it out of hot, direct sun, which can scorch the leaves. An easygoing way to add dramatic foliage where light is limited.
