About This Plant

Neoregelia bromeliads are grown for their bold rosettes of strap-like leaves that intensify in color — often flushing pink, red, or purple at the center — when given bright light. In their native Brazilian rainforests they grow as epiphytes, perched on trees rather than in soil, which is why they appreciate excellent drainage and a well-aerated mix. Care is refreshingly simple: bright, indirect light brings out the strongest coloring, and the central ‘cup’ formed by the leaves can be kept topped up with a little fresh water. Let the potting mix dry between waterings. Non-toxic and undemanding, it’s a great choice for adding color without fuss.

Care Guide

Light

Bright indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh direct sun.
